Best Practice Code

We follow best practice guidelines as set down by the Internet governing body, the W3C.

Valid Code

Whether you need a Website developed from scratch or just want us to make changes to your existing site, we always work to the same principles and use standards-based coding. This means:

  • Valid XHTML
  • Valid CSS

What does having ‘valid code’ really mean for you?  Briefly, the main benefits are:

  • Your site will display as you intended in all web browsers (not just in Internet Explorer!)
  • Your site will display correctly on mobile browsers, too: phones and PDAs
  • A more accessible site – please read more about accessibility and why it is important
  • Faster download speeds
  • Better positioning in the search engines

Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)

Cascading Style Sheets allow all the design aspects of your Website to be stored in one file. So what? Well, for you this means:

  • Easier editing: If you want to make changes to the design elements of your site, you only need to do it once, in one place.
  • Faster download: Your site downloads faster for visitors as their computer only needs to load the CSS file once.
  • Improved accessibility: CSS allows visitors to your site to set their own preferences for how it displays on their screen.
  • Better search engine rankings: Search engines like a higher content-to-code ratio*.

*Of course, this is dependent on your content being relevant, focused and well written. We can help you with that too. Read more about our web copywriting services in the Marketing section of this site.
