The 'Big Three' Search Engines
Ranking highly on any search engine adds value to your Website, but the main aim of any SEO and SEM work is to drive traffic (ie numbers of visitors) towards your Website: as it stands only a handful of search engines can drive a high volume of traffic to your site. These search engines are commonly referred to as the ‘big three’ – Google, Yahoo! and MSN – and are the three most popular search engines in the UK, if not the world.Recently the search engine Ask has also become a source of high volume traffic, but whether experts will start calling them the ‘Big Four’ search engines only time will tell. For now, FLAME:Media is focusing on the successful Big Three, but we are monitoring the performance of Ask, to be prepared to include it when it is proved to be a consistently reliable source of traffic.
